In a Vehicle-to-Vehicle Frontal Crash Prevention 2.0 test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Honda Prologue achieved a “Good” rating - the highest possible - for its performance in forward collision warning and automatic braking systems, demonstrating its excellent capabilities in preventing collisions. The Subaru Trailseeker has not been tested.

Both the Prologue and the Trailseeker have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

There are over 66 percent more Honda dealers than there are Subaru dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Prologue’s warranty.

The Prologue can travel longer on a full charge than the Trailseeker on a full charge:

For better traction, the Prologue has larger standard tires than the Trailseeker (255/60R19 vs. 235/60R18). The Prologue Elite’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Trailseeker (275/45R21 vs. 235/60R18).

The Prologue Elite’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Trailseeker Limited/Touring’s 50 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Prologue has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the Trailseeker Premium. The Prologue Elite’s 21-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch wheels on the Trailseeker Limited/Touring.

The Honda Prologue’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The Subaru Trailseeker only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.

The Prologue has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The Trailseeker doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires available on the Prologue can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The Trailseeker doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Prologue’s wheelbase is 9.6 inches longer than on the Trailseeker (121.8 inches vs. 112.2 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Prologue is 3.1 inches wider in the front and 2.9 inches wider in the rear than on the Trailseeker.

The Prologue has 14.2 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Trailseeker (111.7 vs. 97.5).

The Prologue has .8 inches more front headroom, 3.2 inches more front hip room, 1.4 inches more front shoulder room, .1 inches more rear headroom, 4.1 inches more rear legroom, 8.2 inches more rear hip room and 2.6 inches more rear shoulder room than the Trailseeker.

A standard locking glovebox keeps your small valuables safer in the Prologue. The Trailseeker doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.

The Prologue Elite has a standard heads-up display that projects speed, navigation instruction, infotainment and driver assistance information readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Trailseeker doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The Prologue’s standard Push Button Start and Smart Entry allow you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, open the cargo door, and start the vehicle, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Keyless Access and Start standard on the Trailseeker doesn’t offer a sensor on the rear doors, so you’ll have to reach a front handle to unlock the rear door.

The Prologue’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The Trailseeker’s power window (except driver window) and power lock switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

The Prologue Touring/Elite’s standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Trailseeker has an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

The Honda Prologue has a standard Homelink wireless remote control system for garage door operation and device management, conveniently located on the infotainment. Homelink® eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries. Subaru charges extra for Homelink® on the Trailseeker.

The Prologue is available in both front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The Trailseeker doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
